Learn to Kayak & CAnoe with 4-H Paddling Spark Club
Enjoy an afternoon on the water with the Newton County 4H Paddling Spark Club! Come learn how to paddle a kayak and canoe at Willow Slough's JC Murphy Lake and on the slow moving backwaters of the Kankakee River at LaSalle Fish and Wildlife Area. Members will also learn watercraft safety and all about how Fish and Wildlife Areas are managed for water recreation. Register at https://paddlingsparkclub.4honline.com
Bottle Rockets with Mr. Simpson
Join Mr. Simpson to create your own bottle rocket. Choose between the morning session at 9AM or the afternoon session at 1:30PM. Please bring your own 1 quart or smaller bottle to participate. Ages 5-11, children under 8 should have a helper. Sign up is required as space is limited. Sign ups will start during the Summer Reading Kick-off Party on Monday, June 3rd.

Running Over MSA 5K
The 9th annual Dan Cavanagh Memorial - Running Over MSA will be on July 6th starting at 9am at Twin Rocks Farm, three miles south of Chatsworth. This all day family event will include a 5K, kids 1K, atv/golf cart poker rally and fireworks. There will also be live music raffle baskets, kids bounce house and games for the entire family. To date Runing Over MSA has raised and donated over $42,800 for The Multiple System Atrophy Coalition and the Annual Dan Cavanagh Memorial Scholarship. Financial Emergency Preparedness for Older Adults
Disasters and other emergencies can disrupt your finances and your sense of normal. In this session, you will learn ways to organize and manage your finances, develop valuable resource lists, and ways to reduce anxiety and stress. With a focus on implications for older adults, we also will explore processes such as building your contact lists before an emergency and watching out for financial fraud following a disaster. Finally, we will review materials to help you build or rebuild your financial preparedness toolkit.
